UMA FUNDRAISER x SPOT LITE
Join us for UMA's Fundraiser at Spot Lite to support ongoing construction at UMA's headquarters in Detroit's North End. Funds raised will help us repair the glass on our front door and restore the showcase in our main hallway. This will bring new life to our space and welcome everyone who walks through UMA's doors.

to the Stage
If pressure makes diamonds, Detroit is a diamond mine. “As works in progress, we’re the product of pressure and the perfect alchemy of extreme conditions” says @undergroundmusicacademy founder @waajeed “We use our conditions to lift our students to their best selves." Created in collaboration with Carhartt WIP, director Evan Zott explores our 2024 Elements Course alongside promoter and producer of Movement, Paxahau, the Detroit Techno Foundation, and Resident Advisor.
Charting the journey of local talent to Movement Festival performers, Zott’s work offers an intimate look at how education and community can launch careers in electronic music. Centering ideas of motivation, inspiration and resilience, the resulting vignette pays testament to UMA’s work of empowering the next generation of music creators.

Updates for Current Applicants
This year we have added some time to our selection process in order to give each person’s application our full attention. Since our review process is longer, we are providing a timeline of when you can expect to hear from us, and what the next steps are.
Here is our communication timeline for all applicants:
Monday, November 10th, 2025 by 9:00AM EST: All applicants will be contacted about their application status.
For applicants that will be moving forward based on the news given on November 10th, here are the next steps:
Artists that are selected for the process must confirm
that they are able to attend all three sessions by
Thursday, November 13th, 2025 by 11:59PM EST.
Class sessions are as follows:

Attendance is required. All times included are Eastern Standard Time (EST). Free parking is onsite.
All start times listed are 15 minutes before the class begins, these are required to push forward the professional saying that early is on time, and on time is late.
Artists will be announced to the general public on Monday, November 17th by 11:00AM EST.
